Bhanuka 5/33 rips through Thurstan

Dynamic all rounder Bhanuka Rajapaksa captured five wickets for 33 to put Royal College well on course to a huge victory over Thurstan College on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which began at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Thurstan: 75 (S. Navaratne 29, B. Rajapaksa 5 for 33, I. Khan 4 for 6)

Royal: 205 for 6 (V. Dissanayake 78 n.o, B. Rajapaksa 31, K. Vithanage 33)

Annites struggle for runs

St. Anne's College Kurunegala were struggling at 43 for 3 in reply to St. Benedict's first innings total of 268 for 6 on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which began at Kotahena yesterday.

St. Benedict's: 268 for 6 decl (R. Shiran 62, R. Weerasinghe 53 n.o, S. Sampath 39, I. Fernando 36 n.o, W. Fernando 21, A. Fernando 2 for 25, C. Silva 2 for 33)

St. Anne's: 43 for 3

Anushka a 11 wkt. haul

Left arm spinner Anushka Samaratunga took a match bag of 11 wickets for 105 as Isipatana College cruised to a first innings victory over S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

S. Thomas': 87 and 148 for 8 (C. Pathirana 36, L. Peiris 27, D. Walpita 53 n.o, A. Samaratunga 3 for 66, S. Sulochana 4 for 21)

Match called off

The inter school under 19 cricket tournament match between St. Peter's College and Trinity College, Kandy was put off due to a wet wicket at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
