AIS, Gateway in cager final

What promised to be an exciting semi-final between Gateway and Lyceum Nugegoda turned out to be a rather tame one with Gateway creaming Lyceum 75/58 in the Boys under 17 International Schools Basketball tournament organized by Colombo International School. Score at half time was 33/23 in Gateway's favour.

The winners Gateway took the lead from the first quarter and excelled in all departments - offense, defense and rebounding. Their coach was very confident about the outcome of the match said - his team does not depend on one or two players to win the game. The entire team is of the same standard, aggressive and fast in their defense and accurate in their shooting.

Lyceum's players could not penetrate Gateway's tight defense and this won the game for Gateway. For Gateway, the top scorers were Sashin 22, Danushka 13 and Ricardo 10. For Lyceum Nugegoda Krishna 14, Rajitha 11 and Jason 10 top scored.

The presence of R.I.T. Alles the founder chairman of Gateway at the match motivated the Gateway team to play harder. Gateway will now meet Asian International School in the final next week.
