Policemen promoted

On the instructions of the Defence Ministry 720 Police constables have been promoted to the rank of Police sergeants with effect from February 15 2009, said Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka.

These promotions were given to the Policemen after considering their ability and efficiency shown during the last ten years in service.

Policemen who maintain law and order in the country should be given their due promotions.

These 720 Police constables were promoted to the rank of sergeants after two years.

Earlier a batch was promoted only on May 1, 2007 Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka said.
