Our children face prosperous future - SP Governor

On the triumphant accomplishment of the war against terrorism
President Mahinda Rajapkasa is working with great determination in the
battle for economic progress and qualitative education.
Accordingly, the children of today will be fortunate to live in a
developed and prosperous country in the future, said Southern Province
Governor Kumari Balasooriya.
The Governor made this observation participating as the chief guest
at the function to lay the foundation stone to a new two storey building
at the premises of All Saints' Central College, Galle. Managing Director
Robert Wilson and employees of Wilson Transformer Company PVT Ltd in
Victoria, Australia have donated 50,000 Australian dollars for the
buildings project.
There are many Provincial Council schools and only 327 national
schools in the South.
Yet with regard to the allocation of funds from the national budget
there is a disparity in value of amount between Provincial Council
schools and national schools.
An increase in funds for Provincial Council schools is essential and
of great significance, the Governor further said.
She said the discipline of students is as important and essential as
the uplift of academic efficiency in schools for which devotion and
dedication of teachers is much required. |
