The present educational system does not develop the human mind. It
directs people only towards anti social activities. No contribution can
be expected from such individuals moulded by such a regressive
educational system, he added.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony on the final day of the
Medarata Navodaya exhibition, held at Getambe Grounds, Kandy recently.
Commenting on devolution of power,Minister Jayaratne said that the
Provincial Councils are more closer to the public than the Central
Government. Health and educational bodies administrated by Provincial
Councils are doing valuable service to the majority of the people of the
country.
The Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa had been instructed
to stop the military operation against the LTTE by certain international
elements. But we were able to teach them a good lesson through the
victory over them.
Today our country has been liberated and people could live freely in
every part of the country, due to the inspiring leadership of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa, he said.
