Man falls 400 feet and lives

A man who had fallen down over the 400-foot Kahatagolla waterfall after midnight remained alive at dawn and was found by the people of the area, Ududumbara police said.

At about 1.30 a.m. the people of the locality had heard the cry for help of the man who had fallen down the waterfall but were unable to search for him as it was totally dark.

But with the first light of the day, the villagers had gone down the hill to the place where the water fell 400 feet and found the man injured but still alive.

The man was brought to Mahiyangana-Kandy highway by villagers and admitted to the Ududumbara Hospital and later transferred to the Kandy General Hospital.

The man was identified as Milton Ratnayaka, a resident of Hunnasgiriya, police said.
