Thomians in 2-1 win over Royal

S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia emerged victorious for the first time ever in the annual Royal-Thomian soccer encounter played at the Race Course grounds.

The game got off to a flying start, with both teams exploiting the field aptly. Even though Royal got a few shots at goal it was the lads from Mount Lavinia who drew first blood, through a goal by L. Lihinikaduwa.

However the Royalists equalised quickly through a goal by P. Fernando but only to let the Thomians outplaying them again by offering them an easy goal by A. Perinbam. At lemons it was 2-1.

The second half was scoreless. However there were a few threatening moves by both teams. The final result was 2-1 in favour of S. Thomas College.

The under 17 match was won by the Royalists by one goal to nil.
