Unemployment rate rose in Europe
Belgium: The unemployment rate rose in August to 9.1 percent,
the top level since 1994, informed on Thursday Eurostat, the Statistical
Office of the European Communities.
Spain shows an unemployment level of 18.5 percent against 18.9 last
month and has the largest level of unemployment of the European Union,
followed by Latvia. Eurostat register says Holland and Austria have the
lower rate of unemployment.
According to gender information, nine percent of women and 9,1
percent of men are looking for jobs.
The entity said the rate reached 9.6 percent in the Euro zone, which
affected another 165 thousand people, the largest increase since 1999.
The office reported 21 million 872 thousand people without jobs in
August, most of whom -more than 15 million- live in the eurozone
countries.
In the same period last year, the level of unemployment was 7.0
