Commission concerned about children without parental care

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has observed that children face challenges globally and specially to mark the International Children's Day in 2009 the Commission mainly focuses on youth offenders and children without parental care in the country.

Culmination of agencies of socialization process such as family, education, community and mass media are paramount concerns of bringing up a child towards social friendly and well-protected childhood.

The ultimate results of these processes would end up with discipline, leadership qualities and to develop a better human rights culture in the country.

Therefore, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka emphasizes that the State and the society are the key actors to prevent juvenile delinquencies and further to ensure the best interest of the child for a better tomorrow.

Chairman Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka A. Anandacoomaraswamy said in a press release.
