Language and IT centre to be built

Resilience Lanka, International Institute of Higher Learning signed a
memorandum of understanding with the Vocational and Technical Training
Authority to set up the first state-of- the- art Centre of Excellence
for Teaching Languages and Information Communication Technology in
Rajagiriya this year.
A delegation of Resilience Lanka met the Vocational and Technical
Training Minister Piyasena Gamage recently at the Ministry office.
This new Language and Information Communication Institute will fully
equipped with High - tech Audio and Video conferencing language lab,
satellite based learning and on line learning.
The Vocational and Technical Training Minister said the main purpose
of establishing this kind of learning institute is to develop language
skills and the personality of Sri Lankan students and train them to use
modern audio and video techniques so as to face to the international
competition.
As President Mahinda Rajapaksa named this year as the year of English
and Information Technology Education, steps were taken to establish this
Language and Information Communication Technology Institute in the
country. Vocational and Technical Training Ministry Secretary Thilak
Hapangama, Vocational and Technical Training Authority Deputy Chairman
D.G. Dayaratne, Director General W.A. Ranaweera, Prof. Lakshman
Madurasinghe also participated on the occasion.
