CIC Pohora receives SLS ISO standard

CIC Agri Businesses received the new standard - SLS ISO 9001/2008 for its fertilizer operations under its name CIC following a comprehensive audit carried out by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution recently.

The Company first received ISO Certification for its fertilizer operations in 1999.

Since then CIC Agri Businesses continues to maintain all requirements for the Quality Management Systems.

CIC Agri Businesses uses Computer technology to blend its fertilizer. The latest certification covers the sourcing of organic and inorganic fertilizer designing and development of fertilizer mixtures, blending, sales and marketing of blended organi/inorganic fertilizers. CIC Agri Businesses Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer Keerthi Kotagama said, "The Fertilizer market we have maintained the best quality standards over the years and we will continue and the ISO re-certification is another step in this direction for our organization".

CIC Agri Businesses produces a variety of agriculture and livestock products such as seed paddy, rice, fruits, vegetables, eggs, yoghurt, curd for the local and export market.

Asian Paints Lanka obtained Sri Lanka Standard (SLS) certification for paints dispensed through Dealer Tinting Systems (Asian Paints ColourWorld).

Three products in the categories of Emulsion Paint - Exterior Use, Emulsion Paint - Interior Use and Enamel Paint, branded 'Weathertuff', 'Classique Interior' and 'Hi-Gloss Enamel' available through more than 280 Asian Paints ColourWorld outlets are now covered by this SLS certification.

These products are available in more than 5,000 colours, a spokesman for the company said.

Parameters such as application properties, spreading capacity, resistance to ultraviolet radiation, drying time, temperature stability, and resistance to wet abrasion were considered in the audit for SLS certification.

Asian Paints Director/General Manager Joseph L. Pulikottil said, "Obtaining certification for products that are tinted and dispensed through dealer-operated units is a noteworthy achievement. It is a testament to the quality of the raw materials as well as our automated tinting and dispensing units."

Asian Paint's ColourWorld outlets have the only fully automated paint dispensing systems in Sri Lanka that offer a large range of shades and provide customers a choice of multiple brands from a single dispenser.

Colourworld customers also do not have to pay any premium for the large range of shades which are available through the tinting system unlike at other paint companies where the prices of tinted shades are much higher than the regular factory-made shades.

Bitumix introduces new coating solutions for construction sector

Bitumix has introduced new coating solutions used in the construction sector and automobile maintenance, a media release from the company said.

Bitumen, the versatile chemical yield in the petroleum refinery process has unique chemical properties. The most prominent properties are binding; water proofing, insulation and UV resistant. These properties which are categorized under rhelogy, cohesion, adhesion and Durability are further modified to formulate high standard products for the best utilization of them.

Processing and modifying of Bitumen is done by several process techniques such as emulsification, oxidation and polymer modifications. In addition to these techniques modified Bitumen grades are mixed with organic solvents to convert them to workable products.

It is a common problem in Sri Lanka that the rain water seeps through exterior walls creating batches of moss thereby creating an ugly looking interior wall. Rain water soaks into ordinary bricks/ cement blocks due to their porous nature. Bitukote BW 01 creating a mesh like film on the wall thereby repels water entering into the wall. After the Bitukote BW 01 treatment, it can be painted with emulsion paint of any colour. Bitukote BW 01 is also an excellent damp proofing solution for bathrooms prior to laying tiles on the walls and the floor.
