Rain ruined 2002 champions final

The 2002 Champions Trophy final between Sri Lanka and India at the R.
Premadasa Stadium played under floodlights was twice hit by rain to
disappoint the 35,000 crowd.
The home team batting first was spearheaded by a pleasing innings by
Sanath Jayasuriya who thumped a top score of 74 and Kumar Sangakkara
second best with a score of 54. Jaysuriya who captained the side batted
till the 30th over. Harbhajan Singh was the main wicket taker for the
visitors, 3 for 27 in his 10 overs.
India in their turn were 14 for no loss when the heavens opened. Play
was called off around 8.05pm. The reserve day too was a wash out. The
prize money and the trophy was shared by Sri Lanka and India.
