Southern historical places to be conserved

Places to be conserved

Hettigoda Thilakaramaya in Galle, Sithulpawwa Fortress and Katuwana Viharaya in Hambantota, Pohoya Geya Mulkirigala, Kirama Galtamgoda

The Archaeological Department's Architectural Conservation Unit has taken steps to conserve ancient historical places in Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts in the South.

The Department has granted Rs. 3.76 million while the Dayaka Sabhawa of the temples to be conserved will supply timber and other materials needed for renovation activities.

Those renovation activities have commenced in several places and the entire program will be completed by the end of 2009.
