Vass steers Colts CC to victory

Former Sri Lanka all rounder Chaminda Vaas hit a match winning half century as Colts CC pulled off a rousing six wicket victory over Chilaw Marians SC in a high scoring SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.

The captain of Colts CC hoisted one six and struck five boundaries to add the finishing touches after dashing opener Jeevantha Kulatunga had hammered 63 from just 55 deliveries.

Chilaw Marians SC: 258 for 9 (A. Athulathmudali 49, M. Udawatte 54, S. Niroshan 21, R. Karunaratne 42, M. Siriwardena 39, R. Perera 2 for 43, D. Perera 4 for 47, S. Weerakoon 2 for 31)

Former Sri Lanka youth player Angelo Perera captured his maiden five wicket haul in first class cricket to help NCC beat Ragama CC by eight at Maitland Place yesterday.

Perera returned excellent figures of five wickets for 20 to skittle out Ragama CC for 121 and then NCC reached their target with opener Yohan de Silva and Sashrika Pussegolla stroking elegant half centuries.

Ragama CC: 121 in 38.3 overs (L. Thirimanna 37, S. Perera 21, M. Fernando 3 for 27, A. Perera 5 for 20)

NCC: 127 for 2 in 28.3 overs (Y. de Silva 56, S. Pussegolla 53 n.o)

CCC by six wickets

Two superb half centuries from opener Michael van Dort (62) and Jehan Mubarak (79) helped CCC overcome Moors SC by six at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Bloomfield win

Middle order batsman Saman Jayantha struck an unbeaten 44 from just 28 deliveries inclusive of one six and three boundaries as Bloomfield defeated Baduraliya CC by seven wickets at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Skipper Tharanga Paranavithana (73) and Hans Fernando (67) struck elegant half centuries as the SSC cruised to a convincing five wicket victory over Saracens SC at Maitland Place yesterday.
