Alleged death threat on CPA Executive Director:

President orders immediate investigation

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickramaratne to conduct an immediate investigation into the alleged 'anonymous death threat' on Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu. The Government Information Department said, that the President had instructed the IGP to submit him a report after a full scale probe into the alleged incident.

Dr. Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu had alleged that he received a letter threatening his life and told the media that he had lodged a complaint with the Police with regard to this incident. Dr. Saravanamuttu is reported to have received the anonymous death threat written in English, posted to his residence.
