Army cagers victorious

Sri Lanka Army beat Old Anandians by 91 points to 62 in a Carlton Cup Open Basketball tournament ‘B’ Division match played at Police courts.Sri Lanka Army was in the lead 41 points to 25 at half time. Gayan Buddika and Idunil Kodikara made valuable contributions for the winners scoring 22 points each. L. D. Rajapaksa was the top scorer for the losers with 29 while M. Ratnayake Collected 19 points.

Meanwhile Wattala BC defeated Police BC 75 points to 73 points. In an ‘A’ Division game played at the same venue. Police led by 36 points to 35 at half time. Sujith Master top scored for police with 26 points, while Sanketha Jayaratne Collected 19 points. T. T. Fernando collected 19 points for police BC. Field Force Youth Basketball Club routed Old Wesleyites Basketball club by 79 points to 58 in another ‘B’ Division game with the winners in the lead at half way mark 40-32.

Amjad Azam 16 and Charinda Rupasinghe 10 points were the main scorers. Weren Chaturanga Collected 16 points for old Wesleyites BC.

The inaugural Carlton Cup Open Basketball Tournament organized by Carlton sports Club and ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ Organization which sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom.
