Despite challenges GDP growth rate records 2.1 percent:

Economic performance in Q 2 encouraging

The economic performance in the second quarter of 2009 is encouraging since the second quarter showed a better performance compared to the first quarter. Despite many challenges the estimated Gross Domestic Production (GDP) growth rate recorded 2.1 percent in the second quarter.

New system to be implemented from Oct 5:

BoC to channel ANCL classified advertisements

The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) entered into an agreement with the Bank of Ceylon (BoC) with regard to classified and word based advertisements which will be implemented from October 5. The agreement was signed at the BoC Head Office in Colombo yesterday.

MIGA promotes direct foreign investments

The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) under the umbrella of the World Bank Group works towards promoting direct foreign investments by providing political risk insurance cover to mitigate losses, said Chief Counsel/Advisor Dr. Srilal M. Perera.
