New night bus service from Central Bus Stand begins today

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will begin a new night bus
service from the Central Bus Stand, Pettah today to provide transport to
working people especially women who leave their places of work in the
night.
Accordingly, 21 buses will begin the service today at 10 p.m. from
the Central Bus Stand in Pettah to 21 places across the country.
A spokesman for the SLTB told the Daily News that most people were
scared to come to Colombo and other busy towns at night mainly due to
the fear of terrorism. But, this fear has been eliminated with the
liberation of the entire country from the clutches of terrorism.
Today more people roam freely in Colombo and suburbs both day and
night. Therefore, it is necessary to have a night bus service for the
public. The bus service will be operated by 16 depots, Homagama,
Maharagama, Thalangama, Angoda, Meethotamulla, Mattakkuliya, Ratmalana,
Horana, Aluthgama, Kadawatha, Nittambuwa, Welisara, Kirindiwela,
Kelaniya, Negombo, Divulapitiya, Avissavella and Ja-Ela. These night
services will start from Pettah and on to Ingiriya, Mattegoda, Meegoda,
Kaduwela, Gothatuwa, Hanwella, Angoda, Mattakkuliya, Udahamulla, Mount-Lavinia,
Horana, Aluthgama, Delgoda, Nittambuwa, Hendala, Raddolugama, Pugoda,
Dekatana, Negombo, Divulapitiya and Avissavella. |
