Engineering marvels at Techno 2009

The Techno 2009 National Engineering and Technology Exhibition will
be held at the BMICH from October 9 to October 11.
President of the Institute of Engineers of Sri Lanka IESL Dharmasiri
de Alwis said at a press conference that the flagship event Techno 2009
annual exhibition organised by the IESL has been held annually for 24
consecutive years.
Over the past years the Techno exhibition had maintained the highest
quality standards.
The Techno 2008 had 230 stalls. The Techno 2009 exhibition will
include special features such as the IESL Engineering Pavilion, Vidatha
Exhibition in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology,
the Robot competition organized by the IESL's Young Members wing, the
Junior Inventors' Area in association with the JIY Committee of the IESL,
the special area, the 'Sri Lankan Zone', for Mawbima Lanka Foundation
among others.
The exhibition is organised to drive Sri Lanka into Scientific and
technological excellence, uplift and enhance the quality of life of the
people in the country and steer it towards prosperity.
The exhibition will provide a platform and a classic opportunity for
the new as well as the established entrepreneurs and organisations to
further showcase and promote their products and services on offer, under
one roof.
A significant feature of Techno 2009 was the establishment of dynamic
and sustainable links between the suppliers of engineering products and
services, and the relevant government institutions to facilitate mutual
awareness of their resources and potential in fulfilling their needs and
objectives.
Senior Vice President of IESL, Engineer, Professor A.K.W. Jayawardene,
CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel Suren J. Amarasekara, President of IESL
Engineer Dharmasiri de Alwis, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Telecom Leisha de
Silva Chandrasena, Chairman of Techno 2009, Engineer Kosala
Abeysiriwardene and Executive Secretary of IESL Arundathi Wickramasuriya
