Journalists granted bail

The three journalists attached to the week end ‘Lanka’ newspaper who were taken into custody by the Terrorists Investigations Department (TID) were released on bail by the Morawaka Magistrate Udaya Ranatunga.

The Magistrate directed the three journalists to furnish cash bail in a sum of Rs.3,000 and a bond of Rs.50,000 each.

Granting bail they were directed to appear in court again on November 4.

Police Headquarters Crime DIG Anura Senanayake, who appeared for the prosecution, submitted to court that the three journalists were taken into custody by the Deniyaya Police while they were taking pictures of the house of Thusitha Ranawaka and inquiring about the movements of the President on that day.
