Ranil enjoined from acting against UNP Councillor

Western Province Civil Appellate High Court issued an enjoining order on Tuesday restraining United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and 91 others from holding a disciplinary inquiry against Harispattuwa Provincial Councilor Saman Wijesekara Withanage.

Western Province Civil Appellate High Court Judges L.T.B. Dehideniya and Ms W. Irangani Perera issued the order after plaintiff-petitioner Wijesekara Withanage filed an appeal before the Court against an order issued by Colombo District Court. Colombo District Court refused to issue an enjoining order on August 7 but ordered Ranil Wickremesinghe and others to file answers and objections in connection with a plaint filed by Saman Wijesekara Withanage.

The plaintiff-petitioner Withanage filing the plaint through Attorney Sanjey Fonseka cited Ranil Wickremesinghe, Tissa Attanayake and 94 others including members of the Disciplinary Committee as the respondents.

Attorney Kuvera de Zoysa appeared for the plaintiff-petitioner with Shabri Halimdeen and Asela Rekawa instructed by Sanjay Fonseka.
