EPDP member to be Jaffna Mayor

The All Ceylon Muslim Congress and the EPDP which contested the recently concluded Jaffna Municipal Council election under the UPFA ticket yesterday came to an agreement over the Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral slots of the council following the UPFA's victory.

The EPDP secured nine seats and the ACMC obtained four seats in the council. EPDP leader and Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda and ACMC Secretary YLF Hameed signed the agreement in the presence of UPFA General Secretary and Education Minister Susil Premajayantha and ACMC leader Resettlement and Relief Services Minister Rishad Badiudeen yesterday.

Under this agreement, an EPDP member will become the Jaffna Mayor. The post of deputy mayor of Jaffna MC will be held by an EPDP member for a period of one year and he will be replaced by an ACMC member thereafter.
