Mithun retains RCGC’s golf title

Mithun Perera, the son of the famed Sri Lankan golfer, Nandasena
Perera, who in his own right, is carving a name for himself by more than
emulating his father, by being a leading golfer with much promise.
Evidence of this has been observed by his winning a good many golf
championships through the years and, true to form as expected, Mithun
did extremely well in the recently concluded RCGC’s 88th championship by
being its champion golfer for the second consecutive years.
On his way to the main title, Mithun, had the better of Sheron
Fernando, 1 up in the quarters, in the semis he got past Rusi Captain
4/3 and the emerging rival to dethrone him from retaining the title was
the reputed, Zen Dharmaratne, Dharmaratne, did well in the quarters to
defeat Alain Gyi 5/3, in the semis he overcame a stiff duel against
Amrith de Soysa to win on the 19th. In the final however, Zen
Dharmaratne was up against the brilliant Mithun who proved his class to
win with an astonishing 13 up.
The Silver division was won by K. Kumarakulasinham on the 16th, the
Bronze division went to Tissa Wickremasingha.
