SLPA signs MoU with Maersk Line

A plaque exchange ceremony was held on board the vessel M. V.
Nedlloyd Africa in celebration of Maersk Line's FM-3 inaugural call at
the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on
September 01.
The ceremony followed the signing of the MoU between Maersk Line, and
the Sri Lanka Ports Authority on August 28.
Maersk Line, the second major shareholder of SAGT, having a presence
in over 125 countries owns a fleet of more than 500 container vessels
and over 1.9 million containers to ensure a reliable and comprehensive
worldwide coverage. To mark the significance of this move to the SLPA,
plaques were exchanged between SLPA, the captain of the vessel Nedlloyd
Africa and Messrs. Maersk Lanka (pvt) Ltd.
Manager of SLPA, Amal Rodrigo, Country Manager Maersk, Prasanna
Jayathilake and Mrs. Ranjana De Silva of Maersk are also in the picture.
Snr General Manager, Operations Maersk India Bhonsale Pradhnesh had
flown down to Colombo to grace the occasion. Director (Finance) of SLPA
- Mrs. Shirani Wanniarachchi, Dy.Chief Manager (Communication and Public
Relations) - Nalin Aponso, Dy.Chief Manager (Marketing and Business
Development) Upul Jayathissa and Dy. Chief Manager (Container
Operations) Jayantha Perera were also present at the occasion. |
