Fifty Micro Haematoprit machines distributed

Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry has delivered 50 Micro-Haematoprit machines to 50 hospitals to investigate the plasma situation in dengue patients.

According to hospital reports most of the Dengue deaths are due to Dengue shock (DS) and Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

When Plasma level comes down to a low level it results in internally and externally bleeding. This can lead to DHF and DS situations making doctors helpless with little or no chance of saving the patient’s life.

Therefore, to minimise dengue deaths Healthcare and Nutrition, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has dispatched 50 Micro Haematoprit to main 50 hospitals including NHSL, Colombo, Ragama, Lady Ridgeway, Kalubowila, Karapitiya, Homagama, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura and Kandy hospitals to strengthen the health of dengue patients.

The Ministry has spent Rs. Six million on this project. A ceremony to hand over machines was held at the Ministry premises last Friday.
