Bolt takes third gold in 4 X 100m relay:

Jamaica extended their track supremacy to win both the menís and womenís 100m relays with Usain Bolt bagging his third gold medal but those feats were overshadowed by Polish Anita Wlodarczykís new world record in womenís hammer throw on the penultimate day of the 12th IAAF World Championships at the Olympiastadion here last night.

Kandy crush Havelocks - 102/3

Kandy Sports Club registered their highest ever total against Havelocks Sports Club when they crushed them by 102 points (11 goals, five tries) to 3 (one penalty) to enter the semi-final of the Caltex Clifford Cup Knock-out Rugby Tournament in the quarter final match played at Nittawela yesterday. At halt time Kandy SC had virtually wrapped up the game leading 52-0.

CH in superb 24-6 win

CH and FC propelled by their power-packed forwards scored a superb 24 points (two goals, two tries) to 6 (two penalties) win over Sri Lanka Army in the quarter-final of the Caltex Knock-out Rugby Tournament for the Clifford Cup played at Longden Place yesterday after leading 7-3 at the breather.
