group correspondent
The Jathika Nidhas Peramuna (The National Freedom Front) leader Wimal
Weerawansa is optimistic about the financial stability of the country on
the basis of the country's foreign assets reserve which has been on the
increase since the eradication of LTTE terrorism in last May.
Weerawansa was delivering the keynote address at the maiden district
seminar, out of a series of district level seminar's on the theme of
Rata Dinawana Gamana (the forward march making the country victorious)
at the NYSC's Youths Resort in Anuradhapura on August 21.
He said that he is hopeful by December the rate of interests of
Bank's would come down and it will result in entrepreneurs going for
more bank loans which would enhance the production and productivity.
It is clearly evident that since the dawn of permanent peace in the
country the economy has been on the upward trend but that alone is not
adequate to revive the glory and majesty of isle" he pointed.
Weerawansa stated that President Mahinda Rajapaksa was able to save
the country from 30 years of LTTE terrorism.
"The economy should be arranged and adjusted in such a way the whole
country it benefited not confining the benefits to a limited few. The
rural level production should be enhanced with the commissioning of
industries and factories at village level.
There should be a permanent methodology to raise gross national
product. The outdated visions and concepts of old leaders, should be
done away with as well the stubborn and lethargic bureaucracy for
winning the economic emancipation", Weerawansa reiterated. |
