Ayurveda to draw foreigners
Several batches of indigenous and Ayurvedic physicians have been sent
overseas to treat expatriate Lankans and foreigners due to the efforts
of the indigenous Medicine Ministry under President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s
guidance. The indigenous Medicine will draw more tourist in future said
Indigenous Medicine Minister Tissa Karalliyadda.
Karalliyadda was speaking after a laying the foundation stone for
Padaviya Hela Wedha Piyasa - the regional headoffice of the community
Ayurvedic Health Promotion service on August 13. The estimated cost of
the building is one million rupees.
The Minister lauded the President’s endeavours in bringing down the
waters of Moragahakanda reservoir to the Padaviya tank to make the
war-battered zone prosperous. He pointed out that after about 60 years
the heavily dilapidated Padaviya-Anuradhapura main road has been
converted to an excellent road way paving way to the development of
Kebithigollawa, Sripura, Welioya and Medawachchiya.
“The Hela Wedha Piyasa” once completed will coordinate the renal
diseases prevention programs including the distribution of clay kitchen
utensils in addition to offer native and ayurvedic medical treatments to
the people”, the Minister said.
The additional secretary of the Ministry Malkanthi Ekanayake and the
Director of the Ayurvedic community Health promotion Dr. Nandani
Molligoda were present. |
