Tigo launches 1000th Base Station

Tigo launched its 1000th Base Station in Galapatha, adding to the list of many milestones in the history of Tigo.

"It was not so long ago when we activated 500 towers in just eight months, one of the county's biggest GSM network expansions at the time" said CEO Dumindra Ratnayaka. "It is indeed a historic day for us as we launch our 1000th Base Station in Galapatha. The Galapatha Base Station is a key tower as it is designed to provide coverage for the new Southern highway that is coming up as well" said, CEO, Tigo Dumindra Ratnayaka.

It is a proud achievement for Tigo who has continuously expanded its network across the country, resulting in superior quality in connectivity no matter where you travel.

"This milestone is proof of our commitment to our valued customers. Today we cover more than 80 percent of the Sri Lankan population and 70 percent of the geographic area of the island" said Ratnayaka. Celebrating a two million active customer base this year after its launch two and half years ago, Tigo is geared up and committed to meeting the expectations of its growing active customer base. Along-side its expansion, Tigo continues to offer all its customers the most value based products and sales distribution in the country.

Thus making Tigo's products available to all segments who wish to experience the 'best value connection'. "Being a pioneer in the mobile industry, Tigo will continue to offer its valued customers user friendly and affordable services whilst continuing to invest in the network to keep a-breast of evolving customer needs" said Ratnayaka.
