Two Indian nationals were arrested by police at the Bandaranaike
International Airport when they were attempting to flee from the country
with jewellery worth one million rupees.
Two Indians posing as fortune tellers had cheated a woman in
Kethethenna, Kahawatte and taken all her jewellery. "Pursuing her
complaint, police nabbed the Indians at the BIA on Tuesday night and
recovered jewellery worth one million rupees from their possession,"
police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said.
Police are investigating to ascertain if the Indians have cheated
others and had taken jewellery or money from them.
The Indian 'fortune tellers' were remanded by the Pelmadulla
Magistrate till August 17.
"Following a court order, action will be taken against the Indians,"
he added.
