Young talent in focus

Enhancing and bring young talent to the spotlight had become a timely
need today. Daintee Limited, who had been gifting the children of the
world with a variety of sweet delights, had taken this task to
consideration as they came up with the idea of putting together X-tra
Lama Tharu, the reality television program which brings musical, singing
and dancing talents of kids around the island to a public stage.

The second chapter of the company's highly successful program came to
a close recently with Ravindu Sathsara Ratnayake of Bandaranayake
Vidyalaya, Gampaha, being selected as the best singer. Nimesha Sajani of
Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Kirindiwala, was the best dancer in the
finals which saw a competition between 16 children elected for the
finals. Tharshana Madhawa Perera of St. Peter's College, Colombo,
clinched the title of the best instrumentalist.
The most popular singer and dancer were also selected in the finals
through SMS votes. Here Dilini Ishara Perera of Ave Maria Convent,
Negombo, was selected the most popular singer while Pramodi Sithumina
Amarasinghe of Dharmashoka Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda, emerged as the most
popular dancer.
Around 1500 spectators were present to cheer on their favourites in
the grand final which was held at Jilan Madya Maha Vidyala, Keselwatta,
on July 26. Daintee Sales Promotion Manager Kapila Weerasinghe and
Navodya Patalee of Girls' High School, Mt. Lavinia, compered the event.
The jury comprised individuals who are well experienced in music and
dance: Tulin Jayaratne, Lakshman Wijesekara, Nirmala Ranatu- nghe, Visha
Manohari de Silva and Ranjani Perera.
Chairman of TNL Shan Wickramasinghe was in charge of the production
also with Daintee Sales Manager Nishantha Mendis. Chairman of Daintee
Limited Prof. Ayal Jayatilleke. Lawyer Sudath Jayasundara, Daintee
Managing director Sarath Jayakaru, DIG Ashoka Wijetileke and many other
guests took part in the event. |
