Kandy SC retain league title for a record ninth successive year

Kandy Sports Club retained the Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby Title
for a record ninth successive year with a smashing 42-11 win over Sri
Lanka Army on Saturday at Longden Place.
The previous record was held by Sri Lanka Police who bagged the 'A'
Division League for six years in a row.
After being contained to a 13-8 at the breather the lads from Kandy
went on the rampage in the next 40 minutes to pile up 29 more points.
They have obtained 45.50 from 11 outings - 5.50 points ahead of their
nearest rivals CR and FC.
The Red Shirts who scored a runaway 55-nil win over Air Force on
Friday are lying in second place with 40.00 points from 11 matches and
will finish as runner-up for the sixth successive year.
The Sri Lanka Navy came up with another superb display to beat the
strong CH and FC at Welisara on Friday to move upto third position in
the points table. The sailors have collected 30.50 points from 11 games
and with end up in third place if they beat Air Force in their final
league match at Ratmalana on August 7 (Friday).
