CR in runaway 55-0 win

CR and FC scored a runaway 55 points (five goals, four tries) to nil win over Sri Lanka Air Force in their Caltex 'A' Division League rugby match played at Longden Place yesterday after leading 26-0 at the breather.

The Red Shifts surged into the lead in the second minute of the game when centre Lasintha de Costa crashed through for a try by the left corner flag off a second phase move. Reza Mubarak missed the conversion. Eight minutes later CR No. 8 Dushanth Lewke powered his way to score mid right off a forwards rush. Reza Mubarak converted (CR-12-0).

In the 26th minute of the first half off a three quarter move in mid field fly half Ashan de Costa dummied and side-stepped his way past several Air Force defenders to score under the posts to give Reza Mubarak an easy kick at goal (CR 19-0).

In the 30th minute off a three quarter move in mid field centre Nuwan Chamara dashed through 40 metres to score under the posts. Reza Mubarak made no mistake with the conversion and CR led 26-0 at 'lemons'.

In the second half CR and FC scored five more tries through Reza Mubarak (two), Nuwan Chamara (one), Ashen Karthelis (one) and substitute Flanker Diren Wernakulasuriya (one) of which two were converted by Reza Mubarak as the Red Shifts ran out winners by 55 points to nil.

Referee: Pradeep Fernando.
