Shameera steers Moors to an exciting win

Former captain of St. Joseph’s College Shameera Weerasinghe produced a splendid all round performance to spearhead Moors SC to an upset 77 run victory over Colts CC in their SLC under 23 division one invitation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 280 in 50 overs (P. Perera 21, I. Gouse 34, I. Rifai 20, S. Weerasinghe 65, C. de Silva 66, T. Perera 3 for 66, D. Auwardt 4 for 34).

Colts CC: 203 for 9 in 50 overs (S. Silva 28, R. Ratnayake 22, R. Silva 85, A. Perera 31, S. Weerasinghe 3 for 37, C. de Silva 2 for 39).

Munaweera magnificent 172

Dashing opener Dilshan Munaweera hammered a magnificent 172 from 122 deliveries inclusive of eleven sixes and eleven boundaries as Bloomfield trounced Saracens SC by a massive 140 runs in their SLC under 23 division one invitation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield: 339 for 8 in 50 overs (D. Munaweera 172, S. Rupasinghe 30, N. Karunanayake 38, G. Niroshan 3 for 68).

Saracens SC: 199 for 7 in 50 overs (S. Nandalal 45, S. Silva 37, R. Wickremarachchi 37, N. Fernando 2 for 38, D. Munaweera 2 for 30).

Gangoda top scorer

Eranga Gangoda hit a top score of 79 and snapped up three wickets for 13 runs as NCC outplayed Kurunegala YCC by 88 runs in their SLC under 23 division one invitation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Maitland Place yesterday.

NCC: 221 in 47.5 overs (E. Gangoda 79, R. Wijenayake 34, R. Mendis 18, W. Perera 2 for 51, T. Herath 2 for 56).

Kurunegala YCC: 133 in 39.4 overs (Y. Kanumale 43, C. Pathirana 36, R. Ratnayake 18, R. Laksiri 3 for 17, E. Gangoda 3 for 13, R. Wijenayake 2 for 27, L. Gamage 3 for 25).

Former Sri Lanka under 19 captain Ashan Priyanjan struck and elegant 92 as Tamil Union defeated SSC by 74 runs in their SLC under 23 division one invitation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Maitland Place yesterday.

Tamil Union: 289 for 7 in 50 overs (A. Priyanjan 92, S. Serasinghe 59, R. Kumara 58, D. Jayatilleke 25, C. Gunasinghe 3 for 40, S. Karunanayake 2 for 54).

A fine all round performance from Andy Solomons helped BRC register a 49 run victory over Chilaw Marians SC in their SLC under 23 division one invitation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.

BRC: 229 in 46.4 overs (A. Solomons 79, D. Harishchandra 37, R. Gayashan 30, A. Rabel 29, S. Wickremanayake 5 for 39, A. Athulathmudali 3 for 25).

Chilaw Marians SC: 180 in 44.2 overs (M. Liyanapathirana 71, M. Udawatte 27, A. Solomons 3 for 27, R. Perera 3 for 37).

Ragama CC triumph

Two unbeaten half centuries from opener Lahiru Thirimanna (77) and Sameera Soysa (53) helped Ragama CC beat Moratuwa SC by seven wickets in their SLC under 23 division one invitation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday.

Moratuwa SC: 175 for 6 in 43 overs (D. Gurusinghe 74 n.o, N. Priyanjana 21, P. Soysa 28, G. Dilruk 2 for 27, S. Kumara 2 for 28).

Ragama CC: 179 for 3 in 31.4 overs (L. Thirimanna 77 n.o, N. Mazahir 28, S. Soysa 53 n.o, L. Mendis 2 for 35).
