Death fall

A man aged 25 was found dead after jumping from the 9th floor of an apartment building in Wellawatte yesterday morning.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said Pradeep Shantha Kumara died after he had jumped from his 9th floor apartment. "The tragedy had occurred at 37th Lane, Wellawatte around 1 a.m.," he added.

A woman who was present at the time of the incident was arrested on suspicion and was being interrogated.

"The apartment is believed to have been rented by the woman 10 days ago," he added.

"It is still early to confirm whether he was pushed out of the apartment or he jumped from it," SSP Gunasekera said.

Wellawatte police is investigating.
