Over 18 Southern UNP stalwarts to join Govt

Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene yesterday said more than 18 UNP stalwarts consisting of a parliamentarians, Provincial Councillors and Pradeshiya Sabha members will crossover to the Government during the Southern Provincial Council election.

Addressing a press briefing at the Information Ministry, the Minister said the people in the Southern province irrespective of their political affiliations are prepared to support the Government at the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council election.

These public representatives representing Matara, Hambantota and Galle districts will strengthen the Government’s endevour to develop the country in the aftermath of eradication of terrorism, he said.
