Road to be renovated in Badulla and Moneragala

The Government plans to renovate roads in the Badulla and Moneragala
districts with immediate effect and has allocated Rs.35,000 million to
expedite the process.
The project planned under the instructions of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa is expected to boost the overall living standards of the
people in the area.
According to Highways and Road Development Minister T. B. Ekanayake,
around 700 kms of roads in the two districts have been earmarked for
laying new carpets in accordance with the latest quality standards. In
addition, 15 new roads and three new bridges are to be built in
identified locations.
Under the program, plans are afoot to lay new carpets to the
Bandarawela - Balangoda(55 kms) road at a cost of Rs. 3,000 million,
Matara-Wellawaya road (Rs.5,000 million), Wiyaluwa-Kandaketiya/Galauda
road (Rs.6,300 million), Wellawaya-Siyabalanduwa road (Rs.1,300
million), Ella-Wellawaya road (Rs.800 million).
The Asian Development Bank and the World Bank are to provide
necessary funds for the project.
