Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara
The eighth Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara will be held on August 2, 2009 at
Nalanda College premises, Colombo 10.
Chief Guest will be Defence Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Commanders and Chiefs of all Security Forces have been invited as Guests
of Honour.
Floral tributes will be paid to 41 Old Nalandians who laid down their
lives to bring freedom to the Nation. Medals will be awarded to Old
Nalandians in the Security Forum and families of fallen heroes.
New website
A new website, lankassist will be launched by Prof. Dayantha
Wijeskera, former Vice Chancellor of the Moratuwa University at Galle
Face Hotel, Colombo 2 on August 1, 2009 at 2 p.m.
Dharmaraja honours war heroes
The principal, staff and students of Dharmaraja College Kandy
together with the Old Boys' Union will hold a special ceremony at the
college auditorium today to felicitate old boys who participated in the
war to defeat the LTTE.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will be the chief guest. One
hundred and seventy-four officers, 100 from the Army, 28 from the Navy,
38 from the Air Force and 18 from the Police will be honoured.
Proceedings will commence at 8.30 a.m. with a guard of honour to the
Chief Guest, followed by floral tribute at the mausoleum for the 34
Rajan officers who died in the war.
Title deeds awarding ceremony
The fourth stage of the Ranbima title deeds awarding ceremony
organised by the Land Reform Commission will be held at Temple Trees
under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on August 4 at 9 a.m.
Nearly 1,500 landless persons will receive land title deeds at this
ceremony.
Rajans annual dinner dance
The annual dinner dance of the Old Boys' Union (Colombo Branch) of
Dharmaraja College, Kandy to mark the 122nd anniversary of the College,
will be held at Waters Edge, Battaramulla on August 1, 2009 (Saturday)
at 8.00 p.m.
Seminar
Seminar on 'Contempt of Court' will be held at the Organisation of
the Professionals Association, 275/75, Prof. Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha
(off Reid Avenue) on August 4, Tuesday from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m.
Pooja
A Suwanda Pooja to invoke blessings on the President, Security Forces
Chiefs, IGP, Civil Defence Force Director General, war heroes and the
people organised by the Media and Information Ministry will be held at
the Pettah Bodhi premises on August 4 at 5 p.m. The organisers said
Buddha statues would also be presented to 50 media personnel at this
ceremony.
