Rugby coaching seminar

Upananda Jayasundera Kandy Sports Special corr.

Under the 'Gamata Kreedawa' concept introduced by Kandy District Sports Development Foundation, a seminar on rugby coaching was held at the Nittawela rugby grounds recently where over 200 boys of 15 schools and over 30 girls from 2 schools participated. The seminar was held from 9.00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the President of the Kandy District Sports Development Foundation, General Anuruddha Ratwatte was present.

The schools that participated were Zahira and Sri Rahula Katugastota, St. Sylvesters, Kandy, Nugawela Central, Nugawela Balika, Greenwood College, Ambatenna, Mahaweli MV, Kandy Model School, D.B. Wijetunge MV, Galagedara MV and some other schools.

Poorna Liyanagamage, the Physical Training Instructor of Vidyapeetaya, Polgolla gave a lecture on Physical Education. Anuja Mallawarachchi, Asst. Director of Physical Training of University of Peradeniya lectured on rugby basics showing a CD.

Asoka Jayasena, Maurice Perera, Director of Coaching, Kalu Perera and Gamini Udugama all former Sri Lanka Rugby Players conducted the seminar.
