Workshop
A one day workshop on "People Centric Diplomatic Service" for all the
District Secretaries and Grama Sevaka Officers of the Colombo district
will be held today July 20, at 8.30 am at the Maharagama Youth Centre
Auditorium. Minister of Foreign Affairs Rohitha Bogollagama and Minister
of Public Administration Sarath Amunugama will grace the occasion.
Sight awareness program
The Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka Colombo (Colombo Jaycees)
is organising a Sight Awareness Program at Hindu Ladies College,
Wellawatte, on July 21 commencing at 7.30 a.m.
Inauguration ceremony
The Inauguration ceremony of the 'Junior Jaycees Amal International'
will be held at Amal International School, Colombo 05 on July 21 at
10.00 am. This event is coincide with the visit of Junior Chamber
International World President JCI Sen. Jun Syp Shin to Sri Lanka.
Certificate and Diploma courses in Hindi
Central Hindi Directorate, New Delhi (India) has invited applications
from non-Hindi speaking Indians, foreigners, Indian nationals/ settlers
residing abroad for admission to certificate and Diploma Correspondence
Courses in Hindi language through the medium of English, Tamil,
Malayalam and Bangla and the Advanced Diploma Course in Hindi through
only in Hindi medium for the session 2009-2010.
Certificate Course is the preliminary course, Diploma Course is the
subsequent course and the Advanced Diploma Course is of the Senior
Secondary Level/Advanced Level.
A/L and year five scholarship examinations

The G.C.E. A/L examination 2009 is to be commenced on August 11 and
year five scholarship examination to be conducted on August 23.
According to the Examination Department, the G.C.E. A/L examination will
begin on August 11 and to continue until September 5 for all streams as
scheduled.
Meanwhile, all arrangements have been made to conduct the year five
scholarship examination on August 23. The Examination Department will be
issuing Admission Cards for students sitting for the year five
scholarship two weeks ahead of the test.
Eight injured in separate accidents

Twelve road accidents were reported on the Galle Road and Horana Road
injuring eight persons.
A lorry crashed on to the jeep of the Panadura police injuring a
female Sub Inspector and two others.
All were rushed to the Panadura base hospital.
A school bus crashed onto a school van near the Central Road junction
at Wadduwa injuring three students.
Both vehicles were damaged. Panadura and Wadduwa police are
investigating. |
