Vast benefits for plantation sector under Govt - Minister

The Mahinda Chinthana has become a reality among the plantation community, Plantations Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne said.

The plantation community received vast benefits under the Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa the minister said speaking while launching the Uva Provincial political campaign from the Uva Paranagama electorate recently.

He said he will launch the country's development drive from Uva as the historical Uva-Wellassa rebellion against British imperialists commenced from Uva.

The UVA people, who make an immense contribution to the country's economy will exercise their franchise with pride for the first time after winning our second independence in the history, Jayaratne said.

He said the country has been liberated from terrorism and now we face the development challenges. The Minister said there was no doubt of winning the development war.

Jayaratne assured a successful political solution to the ethnic problem under the guidance of President Rajapaksa.
