Lecture boycott enters third week

The lecture boycott launched by the university students of the Sabaragamuwa University has entered its third week.

The boycott was launched by the students of the Sociology and Language faculty on the grounds that the university authorities have failed to utilise the faculty building for the benefit of the students. According to student sources the faculty building was constructed following continued requests by students over long period.

After several appeals made by the students the construction of the building was commenced on September 08 in 2006. The construction has been completed a few months ago, students sources said.

"We wonder why the university authorities or the authorities of the Higher Education Ministry are reluctant to use the building for the betterment of the university," students sources said. The Daily News tried to contact the Higher Education Ministry on this issue but failed.
