Seminar on biofuels

The College of Chemical Sciences at the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon will conduct a one day seminar on biofuels titled "Biofuels - Energy for the future of Mankind" from 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday July 22, at the PPGL Siriwardene Auditorium at the Institute's Headquarters at Admantane House, 341/22, Kotte Road, Welikda, Rajagiriya.

The Chief Guest at the seminar will be the Acting Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Methsiri Wijegunawardena.

Different fossil fuel types, their Worldwide distribution, current usage and future risks of depletion, compatibility of biofuels with petrochemicals and advantages, new trends of fuel research, wood gas production, carbon trading towards sustainable energy development, environmental pollution and health risks of fossil fuel burning and biotechnology in the production of ethanol as a fuel will be discussed at the seminar.
