Amana Takaful Awards day 2008

Amana Takaful Insurance recently held its Annual Awards Day for 2008 where performers were recognized for their contributions. The theme of the Awards Day was “A dream, Reality. A dream.”


The winners of the Amana Takaful Insurance Annual Awards Day 2008 together with Dir/CEO - Ehsan Zaheed, GM/CEO Amana Takaful Life - Reyaz Jeffrey and GM Medical and Operations - Zaid Aboobacker.

Director/CEO of Amana Takaful Insurance Ehsan Zaheed said, “We have now reached a milestone in Takaful and only brighter times lie ahead,” pointing out the immense potential for Takaful in Sri Lanka. “The key is in perseverance and the will to succeed,” he said.

GM/Chief Executive Officer of Amana Takaful Life, Reyaz Jeffrey said, “People will be our strength for the future. We need to invest to develop ourselves and our futures just as much as we advise our clients. Individual success will make our team winners.”

In the General Takaful category the Best Performance award (seniors) was won by M.G.M. Ansari while Sammi Deshappriya (Kandy branch) won the same award in the Outstation category. The Pettah branch was adjudged the best branch for General Takaful while N.M. Ifthikar won the award for the best branch manager (Kurunegala branch).

In the Family Takaful [Life Insurance] category, Ashraff Mohamed Azmi (Pettah branch) won the award for the Highest Collection, while N.M. Risham (Matale branch) came first place in the category of Best of New Business.

The Best Sales Agent award was presented to A.M. Lafeer (Colombo branch) who also secured first place for the best MCFP (first premiums). Overall Best Performance was won by M.M.M. Mafahir (Akurana branch) and the award for Best Persistency 2008 was won by M.S. Jaleel (Kathankudy branch). The Best Branch for Family Takaful was won by the Colombo branch headed by Shakir Mohamed.

This year’s Awards Day coincides with several milestones for Amana Takaful Insurance of which include the completion of 10 years of Takaful in Sri Lanka and the totalling of more than Rs. 1 billion in GWP.

The reason behind this success has been the acceptance of the Takaful concept by Sri Lankans for its characteristics and attributes that stand for mutual benefit, fairness and transparency.

Special recognition was conferred upon several senior staff members for their invaluable contributions during the ten years towards the well-being of Amana Takaful Insurance by way of tokens of appreciation.


Barista receives Halal certification

Barista, a leading coffee chain has received Halal certification for all its outlets from the All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ulama (ACJU), the prominent Muslim authority in the country.

This is the first time a coffee chain has received Halal certification in Sri Lanka.

According to the standard ACJU’s inspection process practices, every single ingredient that goes into the making of each product sold at Barista was verified and stringently supervised by the Halal Certification body.

All product ranges were found to be fully compliant.

In Sri Lanka, Barista has cafes at the following locations: Bambalapitiya, Crescat Boulevard, Gandara, Horton Place, Rajagiriya, the HSBC call centre, R.A. de Mel Mawatha, Thummulla and at the World Trade Centre - where customers can sip Barista coffee, now with a Halal guarantee.

Munchee introduced the Karapincha biscuits to the market as the first step towards launching a herbal range for the benefit of consumers.

Although Karapincha leaves are used in almost every meal in Sri Lanka, this is the first time a biscuit has been manufactured using it as an ingredient.

Karapincha or Curry leaves scientifically known as Muraya koenigi has been used in Ayurveda for generations as a medicine for variety of ailments.

 

 

 


Ponds opens Skin Care Centre

The new Ponds Skin Care Centre at Crescat was opened by seven women achievers. The empowered women, experts in their field that spans from films and beauty care to fashion and hospitality, comprised Brand Ambassador for Ponds Ramani Fernando, hotelier Yasmin Cader, Apsari Thilakeratne, Actress and filmstars Sabeetha Perera and Veena Jayakody and Pathma Maharaja and Mela Karunanayake.

The Ponds beauty Advisors at the skin care centre will conduct free facial analysis using the patented skin analyzer that helps to see the deepest layers of the skin while identifying the signs of aging such as spots, open pores, wrinkles and fine lines dry and dull skin. The beauty consultants will then suggest corrective measures all in the privacy of the state-of-the-art centre.

In addition to personalized skin analysis, the centre will offer one on one skin consultations for which appointments can be obtained in advance, e mail consultations where questions will be answered, product sales with free delivery within two days and free facial threading.


DFCC Vardhana Bank’s ‘Junior Day’

Helping children save smart!:

The DFCC Vardhana Bank (DVB), has organized day-out for children at Leisure World, Hanwella, Awissawella, on August 09.

The Bank’s ‘Junior Day’, will host a large number of children to a fun filled day free with many games and surprises. Every child attending the celebrations will be awarded gifts. The children will be taken on a special guided ‘forest’ excursion at the premises as well.
