We are now witnessing the glamour of Information Age having passed
Internet Age; obviously IT is becoming a complex subject to study. An IT
team in a company is generally consisted of specialists in web
designing, programming etc.
Priyantha Navarathne, in this backdrop, broaches an interesting theme
on mapping raw data. For instance we have seen a number of presentations
of climate on the television. Of all those presentation methods,
attraction is obviously the digitized analysis of climate. You can grasp
information clearer enough, and the presenter can do a convenient job of
convincing the audience.
Navaratne's work is mainly based on introducing and enlightening the
reader on ArcView GIS, a software on digitizing raw data. This may seem
very trivial for someone who is well capable of following the software
in English, but Navarathne does a tremendous job with his Sinhala simple
and accurate. There are problems with many Sinhala writers on IT.
Sometimes they don't have attractive credentials, which makes the reader
hazard a guess whether they should follow the guidelines. Some writers
do not make it simple and accurate. Navarathne not only has a good
command of simple Sinhala, but he has attractive credentials with three
universities. He had his Bachelor's at the University of Kelaniya, and
now is reading for Masters at the University of Peradeniya. He had
gathered all required information for this book from the University of
Colombo. He had done further studies at Arthur C Clark Institute as well
as NIBM.
Navaratne had his primary education at Roman Catholic College,
Nittabuwa. He then obtained his higher studies at Bandaranaika College,
Gampaha. He currently works as an Assistant Director at the Presidential
Secretariat.
His first book dealt with computer engineering, which was published
in 2004. His second book was on VB.Net programming. - Sachitra Mahendra |
