Formidable Tissa

No book launch without Tissa.
No great oration without Tissa.
Everyone admired Tissa.
Tissa used the right idiom at the right place.
Tissa says, 'Lester my teacher.'
Lester says, 'Tissa my teacher.'
We cannot intervene,
This, a personal conflict between two genius giants
We enjoyed all your creations,
But not the last one.
You created a vacuum.
It cannot be filled but,
Only by formidable

Tissa. M.M. Liyaff

Forget them not

No wonder, soldiers the kings
Re-united, the Motherland with a fight
Everybody praises, with showers of kisses
Forget them not, regard as heroes, devoted greatest.

Ozone . . .

On a day which was almost gone
I was on a hard traffic zone
There rang my new camera phone
When in the car, I was completely alone.

"Can I speak to Mr. John?"
Asked the caller at my phone
"Yes, it's me", I replied the goon
In a very concerned tone.

"Sir, you mustn't do the environment any wrong
In your project which is so very long"
I realised that it was Inspector Bong
Whose voice croaked like of a frog.

"Yes" agreed I over the phone
"We must protect ozone"
Shouted from the bay a prawn
"To ozone, have you ever gone?"

"Shut up!" I snapped at the prawn
"If you want to live until the next day's dawn"
Quietened the prawn and it did mourn
"Today you seem not over the moon"

I was furious at its tone
With its head tilted like a stone
Outrageous, I complained over the phone
That I was harassed by a prawn.

Joyful tidings

Our hope have dawned in splendour, may darkness flee away
From eastern skies may bright tints glow, today and every day

God bless the ruler of our land, may peace always abide
Thou art dear lord the guiding hand on this pearl of oceans pride

Salute our valiant heroes, their struggles bravely borne
Determined with such courage every night and morn

Commanded by their leaders and every task done well
Not caring for their lives or limbs, nor the snares of hell

Guide all right thinking politicians they stand a hardy test
With wisdom make them pave the way giving of their best

Counting not on failures past help them each day to learn
The sovereign will of the people to be their main concern

May we rise above all clouds of doubt, distress and fears
Our Motherland be freed from enmity and tears.

With peace of mind may we rejoice while winds of goodwill blow
In plenty and prosperity our dear land overflow!

You are not dead ....

I could recollect the glorious day
You were promoted
to the Rank of Captain,
in appreciation of your undaunted courage,
dedication and the bravery,
in the battle field
My hero the Great......

Under the shades of
National flags, thrilling with pride,
your enthusiastic face seemed to me
to be a resplendent full moon
emerged through the dark clouds
up above the battle field......

Your commanding and graceful appearance
with a weapon in your arm,
looked majestic, as that of an ancient king
who conquered brutal troops of enemies......

All eyes, full of hopes
were glued on you in silent blessings
when you marched forward, majestically,
Taking the lead, in the final encounter......

When your patriotic feelings
were aroused, with high spiritedness
you took the Bull by the horns,
making it a pleasant surprise to all
and feathers were added on your cap
in quick succession......

Joy, pride and dignity overwhelmed
my heart and soul, for
my beloved son had been honoured
as a Hero, for shouldering risks
at the Battle, successfully
Inexplicable lovely feelings,
turned into tears of joy, for
you had been a Hero from
your conception to the Birth......

But, how unexpectedly
the fate and the bitter realities of life,
all of a sudden, combined together
to shatter my kingdom of dreams......

One gloomy day,
you visited me unannounced.
A fleet of Army vehicle arrive at
My door-step
I wondered drearily why the flags
were half-mast, when a brave visits
his beloved mother.

"Mothers of war-Heroes,
never cry, over the demise of their sons,
who sacrificed their lives
to save the Nation......"

A young captain murmured something
into my ears, as if in a dream
The whole world seemed to be toppling around me.......

My trembling feet took me to the vehicle
where my brave son was resting
after strenuous fighting.......
when the young soldiers raised his hand
to salute my son,

I raised my both hands to the sky
and shouted at the top of my voice
"Be victorious, my Hero, the Great......!"
