Home garden project

Twenty-seven home gardens will be opened under the Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu program in Kalutara District within this year by the Department of Agricultural Services office in Kalutara.

Instructions have been issued to Grama Seva officers in each Division that a minimum of 50 home gardens should be set up with the co-operation of farmers.

The seeds and planting materials will be provided by the Agricultural Centres of each Divisional Secretariat Division.

The farmers will be encouraged to utilize compost fertilizer. Training will be provided by the Agricultural Propaganda Unit.

A conference was held at the auditorium of the Kalutara Secretariat presided by Kalutara District Secretary S. Hapuarachchi to brief agricultural officials to expedite the Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu food drive campaign.
