Applications called for astronomy workshop

A practical workshop on astronomy organised by the Katubedda Arthur C. Clarke Institute for modern technologies will be held at the Institute premises from August 6 to 11 from 9.30 a.m. - 10.30 a.m. Institute Director and CEO Sanath Panawennage said the workshop held under the supervision of Dr. Chandana Jayaratne would be useful for students in the 14-20 age group.

It will provide a training in the use of Sri Lanka's biggest telescope and its spectrum and CCD cameras as well.

At the conclusion of the workshop the participants would be awarded certificates and free membership of the Institute's Amateur Astronomical Society. Closing date for applications is July 14.

Since there is limited accommodation, selections would be made on the first come first served basis. Further information could be obtained from the institute's Application Unit on telephone Nos. 011-2651566 or fax 011-2650462.
