Most number of dengue cases reported from Kandy

The number of Dengue cases reported from Sri Lanka within this year has gone up to 13,692 and, the number of deaths is 156. The most affected district is Kandy where 2,024 dengue cases and 25 deaths, have been recorded, Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry sources said.

The number of dengue patients reported from the country during last month was 5,357.

According to the Media Coordinator to Healthcare and Nutrition Minister W.M.D.Wanninayake, the Bacillus Thuringenesis Israelensis Bacteria (BTI) will be brought to Sri Lanka from Cuba within next few days. BTI was developed in 1982 to control dengue larvae and has been successfully used in Cuba, India, Malaysia and some other countries.
