Britisher accused of smuggling Lankans to Australia
A British national has been arrested in Darwin and charged with
people smuggling, the Australian Federal Police said.
It alleged Robert Derek Davies, 63, who flew to Darwin on a flight
from Singapore two days ago, allowed a Sri Lankan national to use his
boarding pass in an attempt to enter Australia unlawfully. Davies has
also been linked to the alleged attempted illegal entry into Australia
of two other Sri Lankans who used the boarding passes of other
passengers.
Davies has been charged with three offences, which carry a maximum
penalty of 10 years in jail.
